Fans For Food
started collecting food, drum samples and money in New Orleans, LA in
October of 1999 at the annual Widespread Panic Pilgrimmage
to the Big Easy. The mission was to give back to the less
fortunate in the name of a community and a band that is
loved by thousands from coast to coast. Panic Fans for Food
has succeeded in mitigating some of the negative aspects
that become associated with a large touring act like Widespread
Panic. In just under 4 years, the organization has raised
over $20,000.00 and 9 tons of food (18,000lbs) for 27 cities,
nationwide. Last October, Panic Fans For Food received the
Mimi Fishman Community Service Award at the Jammys to accompany
Widespread's Jammy for Live Album of the Year.
